What If Everything You Were Taught About Being A Strong Black Woman Was a Lie?
You know what it’s like to be “the strong one.”
The go-to. The dependable one. The one who always keeps it together.
But why doesn't anyone ask how you're really doing?
7 Dirty Secrets of a Strong Black Woman is the book I wish I had when I was smiling on the outside but secretly falling apart inside.
This book isn't just my story—it’s ours.
It dives into the pressures we feel to be perfect, the heartbreak and trauma we silence and bury, and the ways we quietly lose ourselves trying to hold it all together.
But more than that—7 Dirty Secrets of a Strong Black Woman is a book about healing. Not the kind that says “just move on,” but the kind that says: “Let’s tell the truth first.”
If you’ve ever felt unseen, unheard, or exhausted from pretending to be ok—when everything inside you is screaming that you're not—this is for you.
Inside, you’ll find language for what you’ve been carrying, tools to help you heal, and reminders that you’re not alone—and never were.

READERS ARE ALREADY SAYING...
"I have NOT been able to put this book down!"
"It was totally relatable; especially the part about being an overachiever..."
"I read 'Our new definition of strength gives us permission to take a step back before we jump in with our heart or our help.'" And I was like, how about mind ya business? Why are you following me everywhere I go? I literally got done the with the book, put it on the nightstand and was staring up at the ceiling, like "I've got some homework to do. Don't I?"
Meet the author
Dr. Rhonda Alexander
I’m Dr. Rhonda Alexander, and if there’s one thing I know, it’s that the “Strong Black Woman” trope needs to be dismantled. In my book, 7 Dirty Secrets of A Strong Black Woman, I expose the emotional and physical toll that "strength at all costs" takes on us. This isn’t just another “you’ve got this” self-help book; it's my memoir and a movement. It's a call to action for those of us who are tired of holding it all together while secretly falling apart.
As the founder of SoulScribe, I help people turn their personal stories into six-figure revenue streams, showing them how to use their experiences to fuel success. I’m dedicated to empowering women -- especially Black women -- to rediscover their voice and build legacies on their own terms. I want them to know that their vulnerability is an asset, even in the areas where they’re experts. By embracing that authenticity, they can share their journey to success, monetize their expertise, and shake up their industry— without having to hide who they truly are.
